This completed composition roof in Seattle turned out great. The material is CertainTeed Landmark TL in Moire Black, a perfect color choice. The shingles are a dark black, light black, and gray mix. When we install these shingles, it gives the roof a lot of definition; it is thick and has excellent color. If you choose shingles with just one color, the roof tends to disappear.

The old roof we tore off on this home was a composition shingle and had been on for about 20 to 30 years; it did a good job but was close to exceeding its lifetime. Now, it was time for a new roof. The granules were starting to come off, and some shingles were curling. We knew the house was ready for a new roof. After removing the old roof, we recycled it, processing the shingles into asphalt for use on roadways. Then, we inspected the roof deck, installed the underlayments and the perimeter edge metals, and installed the new CertainTeed Landmark TL shingles.

We are certified through CertainTeed. There is a five-star roof warranty on this roof, which means 50-year coverage for the material and 25-year coverage for our labor. So, if we retire and move to Hawaii, you still have warranty coverage on our workmanship. CertainTeed covers our labor. The warranty is fully transferable, too.
