Video Description
Three Tree Roofing recently completed a stunning roofing project in Bothell, Washington, showcasing a beautiful CertainTeed roof. While initially durable, the original cedar shake roof succumbed to leakage, a common issue with wood roofs over time. The dedicated crew at Three Tree Roofing meticulously removed the old cedar shakes, recycling them for eco-friendly disposal.
Older cedar shake roofs typically lack plywood under the roof; the team added all-new plywood, the underlayment, an ice and water shield, and perimeter edge metals. These preparatory steps ensure the roof's durability and proper installation of the CertainTeed Landmark TL shingles in Moiré Black, a mixture of dark and lighter blacks and shades of dark gray.
This color selection enhances the shingles' definition and creates a thicker look. Moiré Black's neutrality makes it an ideal choice if you plan to paint your house post-roof installation, ensuring a harmonious and versatile aesthetic for your home. The meticulous attention to detail and thoughtful selection of materials make this CertainTeed roof a durable and beautiful addition to the Bothell residence.

Another completed CertainTeed roof in Bothell. This roof started as a cedar shake roof. It looked nice until it leaked, as most wood roofs eventually do. We tore off the cedar shakes and recycled them. Then, we installed all-new plywood. It's common for cedar shake roofs to have no plywood underneath them because you don't need plywood to install cedar shakes.
Once we remove the shakes and install the plywood, we start with our underlayments, the ice and water shield, and the perimeter edge metals and prepare the roof for the shingles. We installed a CertainTeed Landmark TL in Moiré Black. Moiré Black is a mixture of dark and lighter blacks and shades of dark gray. This color selection enhances the shingles' definition and creates a thicker look. It's also nice that it works with any color. If you paint your house a different color later, it will still look good. The roof is a very neutral color.
