Video Description
The original roof on this home was a cedar shake shingle roof, a typical roof in the Pacific Northwest, especially if it's a house like this in the woods. It faced issues with leaks that resulted in wood damage. Three Tree Roofing undertook a comprehensive approach to address this during the tear-off process; carpenters collaborated with the roofing crew to handle wood repairs and necessary paint touch-ups.
Once the repairs were complete, the roofing crew installed plywood across the entire rooftop, including underlayments and perimeter metals, ensuring a durable structure for installing the CertainTeed Presidential TL shingles. The choice of CertainTeed Presidential TL in Aged Bark for the roofing material proved exceptional—this roofing material, designed to resemble wood, combines a luxurious architectural finish with exceptional performance.
Importantly, CertainTeed Presidential TL boasts a Class A rating for fire resistance, the industry's highest level of fire resistance, adding an extra layer of safety and durability to the roof. This roofing system project also included the replacement of all skylights with energy-efficient argon gas-filled double pane skylights. Using argon gas-injected glass panes is especially beneficial, retaining heat during winter and deflecting it in summer. The final result is a gorgeous dimensional roofing system built to withstand the unique challenges of the Pacific Northwest climate.

This roof started its life with a cedar shake shingle roof, a common roof in the Pacific Northwest, especially if it's a house like this in the woods. The roof looked good until it leaked, and this one had leaks. The leaks created wood damage.
During the tear-off, Three Tree Roofing had one of our carpenters come in and help the roofing crew with wood repairs and some needed paint repairs. After the repairs, the roofing crew returned to work installing plywood over the entire rooftop and building the roof with underlayment and perimeter metals.
We also replaced all the skylights with brand-new, energy-efficient argon gas-filled double pane skylights. In the wintertime, argon gas-injected glass panes help keep the heat in, and in the summertime, they help keep the heat out, which is essential.
We roofed this house with CertainTeed Presidential TL. The color is Aged Bark. CertainTeed Presidential TL in Aged Bark is about as close to looking like wood as possible. It turned out amazing. This project roof with CertainTeed Presidential TL is Class A rated for fire resistance, the industry's highest fire resistance rating. It looks fantastic. If you have any questions about a residential or commercial roof, feel free to give us a call at 206-312-7663 (ROOF)! Thanks.
